Prof Thokozani Simelane Holding a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science (Honours), Master of Science, Doctor of Philosophy and a Doctorate of Engineering. Is a Professor of Practice in the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Johannesburg. Has been a Principal Investigator of South Africa’s National Food and Nutrition Security Survey. This is the biggest Survey South Africa has undertaken on assessing food security and a first of its kind. Previously worked as a research scientist at the South African National Parks (SANParks). Served as an Interim Research Director at Africa Institute of South Africa before it was incorporated into Human Sciences Research Council. Served as a Departmental Manager (Environmental Management) at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and South African Bureau of Standards (SABS). Have published more than eighty publications. These are in the form of journal articles, book chapters and book volumes. Served as a member of the Standing Advisory Committee on Intellectual Property Right of South Africa(2002-2017). The Committee advises the minister of trade and industries on issues relating to South Africa’s international positions on intellectual property. It also recommends amendments to Intellectual Property Laws and Policies of South Africa. Served as a member of the Research and Publications Committee of AISA (2009-2014). Also served as a member of Research Ethics Committee of Human Sciences Research Council (2014-2017). |
